Northeast Corridor: ADA Boarding Changes at New Brunswick, Edison & Metuchen Stations due to Track Work – Weekend | Friday, April 30 to Monday, May 3, 2021
Beginning at 10PM Friday, April 30 and continuing until 5AM Monday, May 3, customers needing to board eastbound (toward Newark/New York) trains will be required to use low-level platforms at New Brunswick, Edison and Metuchen stations due to important and necessary switch replacement work being performed by Amtrak near Edison Station.
During this time, New Brunswick, Edison and Metuchen stations will not be ADA accessible in the eastbound direction. Customers desiring accessible services should consider the following alternate travel options:
- Customers traveling FROM New Brunswick, Edison or Metuchen stations who require an elevator or level boarding can use NJ TRANSIT AccessLink vehicles for shuttle service to Metropark. AccessLink vehicles will depart each station at the scheduled train time and will connect customers with the next scheduled eastbound train at Metropark. Vehicles will board at the following locations:
- New Brunswick: on Somerset Street between Wall and George Streets (near the elevator closest to George Street on the westbound platform)
- Edison: in front of the station building
- Metuchen: in the station parking lot (to the right when looking at the station building from the parking lot)
- Customers traveling TO New Brunswick, Edison or Metuchen stations from Trenton, Hamilton or Princeton Junction stations who require an elevator or level-boarding should detrain at Princeton Junction and board an NJ TRANSIT bus that will transport them to New Brunswick, Edison and Metuchen. The bus will board passengers at the NJ TRANSIT bus stop in the Wallace Road Circle in front of the station on the eastbound side at Princeton Junction and will depart 10 minutes after the train arrives.
Note: Customers using these alternatives should allow up to 60 minutes additional travel time as shuttle buses will be subject to local traffic conditions.
We appreciate your patience during this important track work.
