Main/Bergen County & Port Jervis Lines: Special Schedule & Bus Bridges due to Track Work and Infrastructure Emergency – Saturday, August 7 to Sunday, August 8, 2021

Type of Service
Schedule
-

On Saturday, August 7 through Sunday, August 8, a special schedule will operate on the Main/Bergen County and Port Jervis lines due to track and switch work on the Upper Hack Bridge (which Main Line trains use to travel between Secaucus and Kingsland stations) and a structural issue with a bridge near Harriman Station. During this time, buses will replace trains between Secaucus Junction and Kingsland Station and to/from all stations west of Suffern.

See special schedule for service details.

Service Notes:

  • IMPORTANT NOTE FOR ADA CUSTOMERS: Level-boarding modifications will be in effect for travel between Secaucus and Paterson as follows:
    • At Secaucus: Board the Paterson-bound bus, which will be located in Bus Terminal bays 8, 9 or 10. Follow directions of customer service personnel and check with bus operators for bus-boarding instructions. The Paterson-bound bus departs at the same time as the Kingsland-bound bus; see westbound (from New York/Secaucus/Hoboken) schedule for details.
    • At Paterson: Board the Secaucus-bound bus at the intersection of Ward Street and Railroad Avenue (MyBus #31579). The bus will depart at 7:04AM, 9:04AM, 10:54AM, 12:54PM, 2:53PM, 5:10PM, 7:03PM, 8:53PM and 10:53PM.
  • Port Jervis Line **UPDATE** Due to a structural issue with a bridge near Harriman, buses replace trains at all stations from Port Jervis through Sloatsburg. Customers traveling to/from Port Jervis Line stations will transfer between trains and substitute buses at Route 17 Station. Customers traveling from Hoboken and Secaucus should board Suffern-bound trains, which will stop at Route 17. (Note: Train 75 customers should wait for Train 1769, which departs Hoboken six minutes later, at 1:25 P.M.) Port Jervis Line trains that would normally operate on the Main Line between Secaucus and Ridgewood will instead operate via the Bergen County Line. Most train times between Suffern and Ridgewood – and at Secaucus and Hoboken – will not change.
  • Bergen County Line: Service will operate at least once an hour throughout the day between Hoboken and Suffern/Waldwick.
  • Main Line:
    • Glen Rock Main Line customers should use Glen Rock-Boro Hall Station.
    • Customers using stations from Hawthorne through Kingsland must transfer at Ridgewood or Secaucus to reach those stations.
    • Customers boarding at stations from Port Jervis through Ho-Ho-Kus and destined for stations between Hawthorne and Kingsland must transfer to a shuttle train at Ridgewood. Shuttle trains are scheduled to follow the Hoboken-bound train at Ridgewood. See eastbound (to Secaucus/Hoboken/New York) schedule for details.
    • Customers boarding at stations from Kingsland through Hawthorne and continuing to stations from Ho-Ho-Kus to Port Jervis must board a shuttle train and transfer at Ridgewood (across the platform) to a train continuing to either Waldwick, Suffern or Port Jervis. See westbound (from New York/Secaucus/Hoboken) schedule for details
    • Customers who normally use Glen Rock-Main Line Station should use Glen Rock-Boro Hall Station instead.
  • Buses will replace trains between Secaucus and Kingsland.
    • Kingsland-bound buses will depart Secaucus Bus Terminal bays 8, 9 or 10 approximately every two hours after the connecting train arrives from Hoboken. See westbound (from New York/Secaucus/Hoboken) schedule for details.
      • Travel time to Kingsland is approximately 20 minutes (delays possible due to traffic conditions).
      • At Kingsland, customers may wait up to 30 minutes for the connecting train to depart the station.
  • Secaucus-bound buses will depart Kingsland approximately every two hours or after the connecting shuttle train arrives. See eastbound (to Secaucus/Hoboken/New York) schedule for details.
    • Customers should follow the direction of train crews and proceed to the bus stop at Ridge Road and Milton Avenue (MyBus #12528).
    • At Secaucus, customers may need to wait 30-90 minutes for connecting service to Hoboken or New York.
  • Shuttle trains will operate every two hours between Ridgewood and Kingsland.

Please allow for extra travel time.
