NJ TRANSIT Rail Service for the New Year’s Holiday Week – Effective Immediately through Sunday, January 2, 2022

Effective immediately through Sunday, January 2, NJ TRANSIT Rail service will operate modified service on certain days and times as follows for the holiday season.

Customers are advised to carefully check Train Schedules for their specific lines.

SERVICE NOTES:

Monday, December 27 to Thursday, December 30:

  • A modified weekday schedule operates with additional mid-morning trains added on the NEC and NJCL and certain morning peak-period NEC trains cancelled.

Friday, December 31 (New Year’s Eve):

  • A modified weekday schedule operates (same as December 27-30).
  • After 8PM, additional trains operate to New York on the NJCL and M&E. RVL trains are extended into New York through the night and into the morning of New Year’s Day. Certain trains that normally operate from New York, Hoboken and Newark Penn Station just before and after midnight will be cancelled and replaced by later trains.

Saturday, January 1 (New Year’s Day):

  • From midnight through approximately 6AM, additional late-night service operates on all lines except the Atlantic City Line, including:
    • Additional trains from New York and from Hoboken with connecting trains at Newark Broad Street, Summit and Long Branch
    • RVL service from New York all night.
    • An additional train departing Trenton at 2:32AM, making all stops to New York except North Elizabeth. This train connects with a SEPTA post-midnight train from Philadelphia.
  • NOTE: Several trains that normally operate between midnight and 1:30AM will be cancelled and replaced by later trains.
  • After 6 AM, a regular weekend schedule operates on ALL lines.

Sunday, January 2:

  • Regular weekend schedule operates on ALL lines.
  • Meadowlands Rail Station service operates for the Jets vs. Buccaneers football game.
