Bus Detour for Nos. 16 & 81 in Jersey City – Monday, May 23, 2025

Effective immediately, and continuing through Tuesday, June 24 at 1:00 AM, Jersey Avenue will be closed between Bright and Montgomery streets due to a movie shoot.  

During this time, NJ TRANSIT Bus Route Nos. 16 and 81 will operate on a detour as follows:

• Buses traveling toward Journal Square will travel from Jersey Avenue and Bright Street, turn right onto Bright Street, left on Barrow Street, left onto Montgomery Street, right onto Jersey Avenue, and then continue the regular route.     
• Buses traveling toward Newport Mall  will travel from Jersey Avenue and Montgomery Street, make a right onto Montgomery Street, left onto Varick Street, left onto Bright Street, right onto Jersey Avenue, and then continue the regular route.     

Bus stops may be lost, and minor delays are expected during this detour. Please read the above detour directions carefully and allow for extra travel time.
