Bus Detour for Nos. 144 & 164 in Hackensack – Tuesday, November 18, 2025

Effective Tuesday, November 18, from 7:00 AM until 5:00 PM, Essex Street will be closed between Summit Avenue and First Street due to paving work.     

During this time, NJ TRANSIT Bus Route Nos. 144 and 164 will operate on a detour as follows:

• Buses traveling toward PABT will travel from Essex Street and Summit Avenue, left on Summit Avenue, right on Beech Street, right on Frist Street, continue on Polifly Road, and then continue the regular route.
• Buses traveling toward Elmwood Park/Midland Park will travel from Polifly Road and Essex Street, continue on First Street, left on Beech Street, left on Summit Avenue, right on Essex Street, and then continue the regular route.   

Bus stops may be lost, and minor delays are expected during this detour. Please read the above detour directions carefully and allow for extra travel time.
