NJ TRANSIT Thanksgiving Weekend Transportation – Wednesday, November 26 to Sunday, November 30, 2025
For Thanksgiving Weekend, beginning with early getaway service on Wednesday, November 26 to Sunday, November 30, NJ TRANSIT transportation services will operate as follows:
Rail:
Wednesday, November 26:
- Trains will operate on a weekday schedule on all lines with additional Early Getaway service from Penn Station New York, Newark Penn Station, and Hoboken Terminal starting at 2:00 PM.
Thursday, November 27 (Thanksgiving Day):
- Extra rail service will operate. For complete rail schedule information, see Train Schedules.
- Additional parade service will operate on the NEC, NJCL, RVL, M&E/Midtown Direct, and Port Jervis Line. Special Thanksgiving Day printer-friendly timetables for these lines are posted on the Printable Schedules page.
Friday, November 28:
- Regular weekend service will operate, featuring additional trains in the morning and afternoon/evening peak periods. See shaded trains in timetables and regular weekend Printable Schedules and check footnotes for operating dates.
Saturday, November 29, and Sunday, November 30 on ALL LINES:
- Regular weekend schedule will operate on both days.
- On Sunday, Meadowlands service will operate for the New York Jets-Atlanta Falcons football game. See https://www.njtransit.com/meadowlands for details.
Bus:
On Thursday, November 27 (Thanksgiving Day), most NJ TRANSIT bus routes will operate on a Sunday schedule. Some routes will not operate or will follow a special holiday schedule and have additional trips. Most bus routes will operate on an early getaway schedule on Wednesday, November 26.

IMPORTANT NOTE: On Thursday, November 27, and Friday, November 28, special schedules will operate for Bus Route No. 319.
Thursday, November 27 (Thanksgiving Day):
- The following bus routes will operate extra bus service to/from New York for the parade: Nos. 113, 114, 116, 119, 123, 126, 127, 128, 129, 154, 158, 159, 161, 163, 166, 167, 190, 192, 193, 197, and 320. See schedules on njtransit.com.
- For inbound (to NY) buses, extra service will operate between 6:00 AM and 12:00 PM. For outbound (from NY) buses, extra service will operate from 12:00 PM through early evening.
- Extra service will operate 5 minutes ahead of regularly scheduled trips. Customers should arrive at their boarding location at least 10 minutes before the scheduled departure time.
Light Rail:
Wednesday, November 26:
- All Light Rail Trains will operate on a regular weekday schedule. See njtransit.com or see Light Rail Timetables for details.
Thursday, November 27 (Thanksgiving):
- Hudson-Bergen Light Rail will operate on a weekend schedule.
- Newark Light Rail will operate on a Sunday/holiday schedule.
- River LINE will operate on a Sunday schedule.
Friday, November 28:
- Hudson-Bergen Light Rail will operate on a weekday schedule.
- Newark Light Rail will operate on a Saturday schedule.
- River LINE will operate on a weekday schedule.
IMPORTANT NOTE: For the Thanksgiving holiday, NJ TRANSIT’s Family SuperSaver Fare, which allows up to two children 11 and younger to travel free with each fare-paying adult, will be in effect from 7:00 PM Wednesday, November 26, 2025, through 6:00 AM Monday, December 1, 2025.
