EWR Airport Station: Bus Shuttles to and from Newark Penn Station due to EWR Station Closure – Saturday, January 10 and Sunday, January 11, 2026
Beginning Saturday evening, January 10 at 9:30 PM, and continuing until Sunday, January 11 at 10:00 AM, Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) Station will be closed to support work on major station projects including construction of a new station entrance and work related to the replacement of the current AirTrain system.
During this time, no trains (NJ TRANSIT or Amtrak) will stop at EWR Station. The Port Authority will coordinate a bus shuttle from Newark Penn Station to EWR for customers, operating on a load-and-go schedule.
Customers should be aware of the following changes due to work taking place:
- If traveling from New York, Secaucus or Newark Penn Station, customers will exit trains (or not board trains) at Newark Penn Station, instead proceeding to buses that are operating on a load-and-go schedule available in front of Newark Penn Station that will take them to the EWR terminals.
- If traveling to Newark Airport from outlying stations (Trenton/Bay Head/Long Branch through Elizabeth), customers will remain on the train until Newark Penn Station, where they will detrain and proceed to buses that are operating on a load-and-go schedule available in the front of Newark Penn Station that will take them to the EWR terminals.
- Customers who normally board trains at EWR Station will instead take buses operating on a load-and-go schedule to Newark Penn Station, where they will board trains to complete their trip.
Please follow the directions of uniformed staff (NJ TRANSIT and Port Authority) when boarding trains and buses at EWR and Newark Penn stations.
