NJ TRANSIT Light Rail Service for New Year’s Holiday – Thursday, December 31, 2020 to Friday, January 1, 2021
On Thursday, December 31, 2020 through Friday, January 1, 2021, NJ TRANSIT Light Rail service will operate as follows for the New Year’s holiday.
IMPORTANT NOTE: NJ TRANSIT is prohibiting all beverages on all of its trains, buses and light rail vehicles on Thursday, December 31, 2020, and the early morning hours of Friday, January 1, 2021. This policy will be strictly enforced.
Light-Rail Service Notes:
- New Year’s Eve, Thursday, December 31: Hudson-Bergen Light Rail, Newark Light Rail and River LINE will operate on a regular weekday schedule.
- New Year’s Day, Friday, January 1: River LINE will operate on a Sunday schedule, Newark Light Rail will operate on a Saturday schedule and Hudson-Bergen Light Rail will operate on a weekend schedule.

Kids ride free on NJ TRANSIT: For the holiday season, NJ TRANSIT’s Family Super Saver Fare, which allows children 11 and younger to travel free with each fare-paying adult, which is in effect until 6AM Monday, January 4, 2021.
