UPDATE: Rahway and Linden Stations: Temporary Boarding Changes due to Amtrak Tie Replacement – Effective Immediately until Sunday, October 9, 2022
Effective immediately, during the overnight hours of 9PM-5AM between Sunday and Friday, boarding/alighting at Rahway and Linden stations will be affected by track infrastructure improvements.
During this time:
- Eastbound customers at Rahway and Linden will board/alight via stairs to/from the high-level platform at the track level when low-level boarding is in effect. Until further notice, extended platforms will continue to be used at both stations during all other hours.
- Westbound customers (from New York/Newark) at Linden will board/alight via stairs to/from the high-level platform at track level when low-level boarding is in effect.
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR CUSTOMERS UNABLE TO USE LOW-LEVEL PLATFORM
Rahway and Linden (EASTBOUND):
- Sunday evening:
- Monday through Friday evenings:
- The last NEC train scheduled to use extended platforms for boarding/alighting at Rahway and Linden will be the NEC Train 3876 (8:44PM at Rahway and 8:49PM at Linden).
- The first train scheduled to require low-level platforming will be the NEC Train 3880 (9:29PM at Rahway and 9:34PM at Linden).
- Monday through Friday mornings: The first trains scheduled to use the extended platforms will be the NJCL Train 3204 (5:19AM at Rahway) and the NEC Train 3700 (5:24AM at Rahway and 5:29AM at Linden).
- Saturday morning: The first trains scheduled to use the extended platforms will be the NJCL Train 7204 (5:41AM at Rahway and 5:46AM at Linden) and the NEC Train 7804 (5:50AM at Rahway and 5:55AM at Linden).
Linden (WESTBOUND):
- Sunday evening:
- The last train scheduled to board/alight normally at Linden will be NEC Train 7873 (8:14PM from New York, 8:32PM at Newark Penn Station, and 8:50PM at Linden).
- The first train scheduled to use low-level platforming will be NJCL Train 727 (9:07PM from New York, 9:25PM at Newark, and 9:43PM at Linden).
- Monday through Friday evenings:
- The last NEC train scheduled to board/alight normally (using the high-level platform) at Linden will be NEC Train 3883 (8:07PM from New York, 8:26 at Newark, and 8:44PM at Linden).
- The first train scheduled to require low-level platforming at Linden will be NJCL Train 3285 (8:41PM from New York, 9PM at Newark, and 9:19PM at Linden).
- Monday through Friday mornings: The first train to resume normal boarding at Linden will be NEC Train 3813 (5:07AM from New York, 5:25AM at Newark, and 5:45AM at Linden).
- Saturday morning: The first train scheduled to use the extended platforms will be the NEC Train 7813 (5:10AM from New York, 5:28AM at Newark, and 5:47AM at Linden).
When low-level boarding is in effect, for the shortest trip time, customers unable to use low-level boarding at Rahway and Linden are encouraged to use the nearest accessible stations, which are Metropark and Woodbridge to the west of Rahway, and Newark Penn Station to the east of Linden. Customers traveling on westbound trains who wish to board/alight at Linden may also use Rahway.
Customers who do not have the option of using an alternate accessible station when low-level boarding is in effect, can call NJ TRANSIT’s Access Link bus service at (973) 671-4480 for alternate transportation to the nearest accessible station.
IMPORTANT: Customers using Access Link may experience wait times of up to one hour based on demand. Additionally, on Mondays between 1:30AM and 3:30AM, wait times may be further extended.
- If traveling on a train to Rahway and Linden stations from points west on the Northeast Corridor Line (Trenton through Metropark) when low-level boarding/alighting is in effect, inform the Access Link operator that an Access Link vehicle should meet you at Metropark Station to transport you to any NEC station between Rahway and North Elizabeth stations.
- If traveling on a train to Rahway and Linden stations from points west on the North Jersey Coast Line (Bay Head through Woodbridge) when low-level boarding/alighting is in effect, inform the Access Link operator that an Access Link vehicle should meet you at Woodbridge Station to transport you to any NEC station between Rahway and North Elizabeth stations.
- If boarding at Rahway or Linden stations when low-level boarding/alighting is in effect, inform the Access Link operator that an Access Link vehicle should meet you at the station where you will be boarding (Rahway or Linden) to transport you to any NEC station between Rahway and Newark Penn stations.
- If traveling on a Northeast Corridor or North Jersey Coast Line train to Linden Station from points east (New York through Elizabeth), inform the Access Link operator that an Access Link vehicle should meet you at Newark Penn Station or Rahway to transport you to Linden Station.
Please allow for extra travel time, listen to announcements, and check destination sign before boarding. For your safety, observe posted signs, and do not walk on extended platforms until trains have come to a complete stop. We appreciate your patience during this important enhancement work.
