Northeast Corridor & North Jersey Coast Line: Possible Delays due to Boarding/Detraining Adjustments – Beginning Friday, April 12, 2024
Possible delays of up to 15 minutes in westbound (from Newark/New York) direction
Due to Amtrak switch replacement work, westbound (from New York/Newark) customers will have adjusted detraining/boarding at North Elizabeth, Elizabeth, Linden and Rahway as noted below.
LOW-LEVEL PLATFORMS
Customers detraining/boarding at North Elizabeth, Elizabeth, Linden and Rahway will be required to use low-level platforms with no level-boarding or detraining available during the following dates/times:
- 9PM Friday, April 12 until 6AM Saturday, April 13
- 9PM Saturday, April 13 until 6AM Sunday, April 14
- 9PM Sunday, April 14 until 5AM Monday, April 15
- 9PM Monday, April 15 until 5AM Tuesday, April 16
- 9PM Friday, April 19 until 6AM Saturday, April 20
- 9PM Saturday, April 20 until 6AM Sunday, April 21
- 9PM Sunday, April 21 until 5AM Monday, April 22
During these periods, customers requiring level boarding or detraining should do the following:
- If you are traveling to North Elizabeth, Elizabeth, Linden or Rahway: Detrain at Newark Penn Station and call 908-324-3517 to arrange for Access Link transport to your station.
- If you are boarding at North Elizabeth, Elizabeth, Linden or Rahway before 1:15AM and after 3AM: Call 908-324-3517 to arrange for Access Link transport from your station to either Metropark (if continuing to stations on the Northeast Corridor) or Woodbridge (if continuing to stations on the North Jersey Coast Line).
- If you are boarding at North Elizabeth, Elizabeth, Linden or Rahway between 1:15AM and 3AM: Call 908-324-3517 to arrange for Access Link transport from your station to accessible stations on the Northeast Corridor or North Jersey Coast Line:
- North Jersey Coast Line customers will be transported to Woodbridge, South Amboy, Matawan, Hazlet, Middletown, Red Bank, Long Branch, Elberon, Asbury Park or Point Pleasant Beach stations.
- Northeast Corridor customers will be transported to Metropark, Metuchen, Edison, New Brunswick, Princeton Junction, Hamilton or Trenton stations.
- NOTE that this Access Link service will only transport you between train stations. You must make further arrangements if you require additional transport from a train station to your final destination.
PLATFORM EXTENSIONS
From early morning until early evening during the dates/times listed below, customers will use platform extensions to detrain and board trains at North Elizabeth, Elizabeth, Linden, and Rahway stations from 5AM until 9PM on the following dates.
- Saturday, April 13
- Sunday, April 14
- Saturday, April 20
- Sunday, April 21
Level boarding and detraining will be available at all stations during these times. If you use North Elizabeth, Elizabeth, Linden or Rahway stations during these periods and require level detraining or boarding, please consult with uniformed crew members before boarding the train at the beginning of your trip.
Delays of up to 15 minutes are possible on westbound NEC trains from Newark Airport to Trenton stations, and on westbound NJCL trains from Newark Airport to Long Branch stations during weekend days and all overnights for the duration of this project. Connecting Bay Head shuttle trains on the North Jersey Coast Line may also be delayed. Please allow for extra travel time.
Please use caution when boarding or detraining at the affected stations and follow the directions of train crews.
