Bus Detour for No. 40 in Newark – Sunday, October 19, 2025

Effective Sunday, October 19, from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM, Broad Street will be closed between South Street and Raymond Boulevard due to the Annual Breast Cancer Walk.  

During this time, NJ TRANSIT Bus Route No. 40 will operate on a detour as follows:

• Buses traveling toward Jersey Gardens Mall will travel from Raymond Boulevard and McCarter Highway, make a left on McCarter Highway, bear right on Lombardy Street, continue on Broad Street, left on McCarter Highway, left on South Street, and then continue the regular route.   
• Buses traveling toward North Arlington will travel from South Street and McCarter Highway, make a right on McCarter Highway, right on Market Street, and then continue the regular route.       

Bus stops may be lost, and minor delays are expected during this detour. Please read the above detour directions carefully and allow for extra travel time.
