Bus Detour for Nos. 21 & 34 in Newark – Saturday, November 1, 2025

Effective Saturday, November 1, from 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM, West Market Street will be closed between Norfolk Street and University Avenue due to a political rally.    

During this time, NJ TRANSIT Bus Route Nos. 21 and 34 will operate on a detour as follows:

• Buses traveling toward Newark will travel from West Market and Norfolk streets, make a right on Norfolk Street, left on South Orange Avenue, left on Springfield Avenue, and then continue the regular route.
• Buses traveling toward East Orange/Bloomfield/Montclair will travel from Market Street and University Avenue, continue on Market Street, bear left on Springfield Avenue, right on South Orange Avenue, right on Norfolk Street, left on West Market Street, and then continue the regular route.  

Bus stops may be lost, and minor delays are expected during this detour. Please read the above detour directions carefully and allow for extra travel time.
