Bus Detour for No. 40 in Kearny – Tuesday, December 2, 2025

Effective Tuesday, December 2, from 7:00 AM until 5:00 PM, Frank E. Rodger Boulevard will be closed between Harrison Avenue and Raymond Boulevard due to the Jackson Street Bridge closure.   

During this time, NJ TRANSIT Bus Route No. 40 will operate on a detour as follows:

• Buses traveling toward Jersey Gardens Mall will travel from Frank E. Rodger Boulevard and Harrison Avenue, continue on Harrison Avenue, make a left on McCarter Highway, left on Market Street, continue on Ferry Street, left on Prospect Street, left on Raymond Boulevard, and then continue the regular route.             
• Buses traveling toward Kearny will travel from Market and Van Buren Streets, make a left on Van Buren Street, left on Raymond Boulevard, right on McCarter Highway, right on Bridge Street, continue on Harrison Avenue, and then continue the regular route.               

Bus stops may be lost, and minor delays are expected during this detour. Please read the above detour directions carefully and allow for extra travel time.
