Bus Detour for Nos. 29X, 41, 44, 71X & 73X in Newark – Monday, March 16, 2026

Effective Monday, March 16 at 7:00 AM, and continuing until Friday, March 20, at 5:00 PM, Central Avenue will be closed between University Avenue and Washington Street due to building construction.  

NJ TRANSIT Bus Route Nos. 29X, 41, 44, 71X & 73X will operate on a detour as follows:

• Buses traveling toward Newark will not be affected. 
• Buses traveling toward Parsippany/Orange/Livingston/West Caldwell will travel from Central Avenue and Washington Street, make a right on Washington Street, left on James Street, left on University Avenue, right on Central Avenue, and then continue the regular route. 

Bus stops may be lost, and minor delays are expected during this detour. Please read the above detour directions carefully and allow for extra travel time.
