Pennsauken Transit Center Station: New Jersey Transit Police to Conduct Emergency Response Drill - Saturday, November 21, 2020
On Saturday, November 21, from 9AM to 12PM, the New Jersey Transit Police Department’s Office of Emergency Management (NJTPD OEM), together with local, county, state and federal partners, will conduct a training exercise at Pennsauken Transit Center Station.
The drill will gauge responses to a simulated transportation incident.
Residents and customers are advised that they will see an increased presence of police and emergency personnel in the area during the exercise.
Service Notes:
- During the exercise, the following Atlantic City Rail Line trains will NOT stop at Pennsauken Transit Center:
- TO PHILADELPHIA
- Train 4664 (8:41AM departure)
- Train 4668 (10:33AM departure)
- Train 4670 (11:46AM departure)
- TO ATLANTIC CITY
- Train 4669 (8:41 AM departure)
- Train 4671 (10:14AM departure)
- Train 4673 (11:46AM departure)
- Atlantic City Line customers traveling to Philadelphia should use the No. 419 bus to the Walter Rand Transportation Center, then board any Philadelphia-bound NJ TRANSIT bus at WRTC. (NOTE that, during this drill, the No. 419 bus will stop on River Road and Derousse Avenue [MyBus #16122] and will not enter the Pennsauken Transit Center.)
- Atlantic City Line customers traveling to Cherry Hill or any station through Atlantic City should travel to Cherry Hill Station, where rail service will be available.
- TO PHILADELPHIA
- Service will be suspended on the River LINE Light Rail at Pennsauken Transit Center Station. The last southbound train at Pennsauken Transit Center will depart at 8:40AM. The last northbound train will depart at 7:59AM. Service will resume at the conclusion of the drill (approximately 12PM). Substitute bus service will be available between 36th Street station and Rt. 73 Station.
- Bus No. 419 will not operate via the Pennsauken Transit Center during the exercise. Customers should use Bus No. 419 bus stops on River Road at Derousse Avenue (MyBus #16101 and #16122) for bus service between 36th Street Station and Rt. 73 Station. Buses will cross honor.
- Customers traveling from Atlantic City Line stations in New Jersey toward Pennsauken should travel to Cherry Hill, walk out to Route 70 at Cornell Avenue (MyBus #15546), take the 406 bus to Camden and then take the 419 to Pennsauken.
- The Pennsauken Transit Center parking lot will be closed for the duration of the drill.
The New Jersey Transit Police Department regularly conducts drills and training sessions simulating various transportation scenarios throughout the statewide system. In addition to New Jersey Transit Police Department’s personnel, local OEMs, Police, Fire departments and EMS will also be participating in the exercise.
