Newark Penn Station: Light Rail Escalators 4 and 5 Closed - Until Further Notice

Effective immediately and continuing until further notice, escalators 34 and 35 serving Newark Light Rail Platforms 4 and 5 at Newark Penn Station will be closed due to modernization upgrades.

During this time, customers may use elevator 32, located on Platform 4’s center island in the Newark Light Rail, and the staircases on Platforms 4 and 5 to enter the main level of Newark Penn Station.

Replacing these escalators is part of a larger accessibility project at Newark Penn Station. While the design phase is expected to begin soon, construction funds have not yet been secured.
