NJ TRANSIT Will Operate Regular Weekend Rail Service Beginning Saturday, July 20, 2024; Regular Weekday Schedules Will be Back in Effect Beginning Monday, July 22, 2024
The recent heat-related issues affecting our rail equipment and service are being resolved. As a result, regular weekend schedules will be in effect beginning Saturday, July 20, 2024. Regular weekday schedules will be in effect beginning Monday, July 22, 2024.
UPDATE: Important Rail Service Information – Effective Friday July 19, 2024
Due to this week's extreme temperatures, NJ TRANSIT is currently experiencing heat-related rail equipment issues affecting the air conditioning units and other electronic components. IMPORTANT NOTE: As a matter of protocol, NJ TRANSIT does not send out a train in passenger service if an air conditioning issue is known, even if the train is otherwise operational.
Important Rail Service Information – Effective Immediately
Due to this week's extreme temperatures, NJ TRANSIT is currently experiencing heat-related rail equipment issues affecting the air conditioning units and other electronic components. NJ TRANSIT does not send out equipment for passenger service if an air conditioning issue is known. As a result, customers may experience delays, and it may be necessary to cancel or combine select trips for the next 48-72 hours.
Jersey Avenue Station: Schedule Adjustments Until Further Notice
Until further notice, Train 3714 (7:55AM departure from Jersey Avenue) will originate at New Brunswick Station and not serve Jersey Avenue Station due to track conditions in the nearby County Yard.
Westbound #4 Elevator
Elizabeth Rail Station Westbound #4 Elevator General Information
In the event the Westbound-Platform Elevator at Elizabeth Station is temporarily out of service, customers desiring accessible services may consider the following travel options.
- The closest accessible stations on the Northeast Corridor/North Jersey Coast Line are North Elizabeth and Linden.
- Traveling TO Elizabeth Station from points east (e.g., Newark/New York): Remain on the train to Rahway Station and then transfer to an outbound train to Elizabeth Station. (Note: The eastbound ramp at Linden Station is temporarily not available).
- Traveling FROM Elizabeth Station to points west (e.g., Trenton): Take an inbound train to North Elizabeth Station and then transfer to an outbound train to your destination.

In the event the Eastbound-Platform #3 Elevator at Elizabeth Station is temporarily out of service, customers desiring accessible services may consider the following travel options.

In the event the elevator serving tracks 3 and 4 at Penn Station New York is temporarily out of service, customers desiring accessible services may use nearby alternate elevators to access the platform.

On Monday, July 15, 2024, Train 3706 (6:21 AM departure from Jersey Avenue) and Train 3714 (7:55 AM departure from Jersey Avenue) will originate at New Brunswick Station and not serve Jersey Avenue Station due to track conditions in the nearby County Yard.
MetLife Stadium: NJ TRANSIT Offers Rail Service between Secaucus Junction & MetLife Stadium for Luke Combs Concerts – Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20, 2024
On Friday, July 19, and Saturday, July 20, NJ TRANSIT will offer Rail service to/from Secaucus Junction and MetLife Stadium for the Luke Combs concerts.
Metropark Station: Platform Construction – Effective Immediately
Effective Monday, July 8, until approximately Friday, July 26, maintenance will occur on the eastbound and westbound platform surfaces at Metropark Station.
During this time, we ask that customers be aware of the construction activity, follow all posted signage, and avoid barricaded areas.
